Well hello there! It’s been a little while since I’ve last posted something useful to my blog, so to mark a proper start to the Springtime, I thought what better time than Valentines Day to share the love and let you know what’s been happening around here. As you can guess from the quietness on this side, I’ve been super busy for the past few months, with all sorts of nice projects to keep me occupied during those long Winter evenings.
I’m happy to share two recently launched websites that I designed, one for Resume Strategists, and the other for Dr. David Amodio of the NYU Social Psychology Department. I also worked on some more advertising for Stone Street Tavern, for their Super Bowl and Six Nations events respectively. You can see the work and read how it all came together elsewhere my site if you’re really interested, just follow the links.
I am currently working on two other interactive projects, which will have to remain under wraps for now. I expect them to be completed and launched within the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that. I’m very excited about them both (currently looking pretty sweet if I do say so myself!) so it’ll be nice to see how they come together after coding and launch.
I usually like to write a little about the background of the days that I send out my mailers (such as previous ones for St. Patricks Day and Halloween), but today I think I’ll focus more on the idea of the day itself. Obviously it can’t all be about eating steak and chocolate with your partners or friends…though of course, that’s mostly what it’s about for me if I’m honest!
While Hallmark seems to have dictated most of the days events (cards and flowers and whatnot), I do like to see it as a chance to also reach out to people that you haven’t been in touch with for a while—not for any big gesture of love or anything, but just to say hello, and let them know that you’re thinking about them and hope that they’re well and happy.
While those who are lucky enough to have a special someone to celebrate the evening with will do so, it’s also nice to remind everyone else in your life that they are also loved, or at least ‘liked’ (even if only in the Facebook sense!), and that they are important to you. No matter what your plans for the remainder of the day (and I do hope that you have some fun plans), hopefully this will bring a little bright spot to the start of the day and serve as a nice thought and image to stick in your head for a little while. Even if you intend spending the evening alone, or at some kind of ‘anti-valentines’ party, you could still take with you the sense that valentines need not only be for lovers, but it can also be for those whom you love, be they family, friends, or especially nice clients!
I also hope that the thought that ‘Love is all around‘ can , despite its somewhat trite and cliquéd sense nowadays, serve as a nice thought and image to stick in your head for a little while. Even if you intend spending the evening alone, or at some kind of ‘anti-valentines’ party, you could still take with you the sense that valentines day need not only be for lovers, but it can also be for those whom you love, be they family, friends, or especially nice clients! It can be found in places both expected and unexpected, and it needn’t involve flowers and chocolates and cards….
