Okellydesign seeks candidates for two internships for the coming months, focused towards interactive design and branding / identity work.

The interactive intern will largely be creating additional pages and iterations for sites that I design initial pages for, along with wireframes / IA for sites overall, per my instruction and guidance. 

The branding intern will be working on supporting identity concepts with me, working up iterations, building out color and typographic palettes, and creating the wider visual brand elements and then creating the associated printed collateral and materials as required.

I hope to structure the internships so that the successful candidate works on a mix of live projects (under my close supervision) and ‘learning’ projects aimed at furthering your knowledge and craft. Time will be set aside each day for tutoring skills or technique in different areas of design.

The internship will be primarily for college credit, though a small stipend may be given for hours worked on live projects. I am open to accommodating college requirements and classes as necessary, though for the internship to be successful, I think it’s better to work at least 2 consecutive days a week. Recent graduates looking to build their portfolio will simply get a stipend based on hours worked on live projects. I will make every effort to ensure that your portfolio and design skills are improved through working with me if that helps. You will be working directly under my supervision and tutelage.

The intern is expected to be talented, willing to learn, and generally ‘helpful’ in terms of trying different techniques, projects and media. The successful candidate will have a great portfolio demonstrating an ability to think, conceptualize and research, and a desire for experimentation and improvement. You will be expected to know your way around CS5 and to be able to make edits to existing documents, or take existing ones and build out further iterations and so on. If you have knowledge of html, or aim to learn it, then this will be a bonus and will open the door to work involving that side of things (interactive only).
