Resume Strategists is a specialized service company that offers professional resume and cover letter writing assistance to high level executives across a variety of industries. As part of a company expansion, they required a new website that better reflected who they were, what they offered, and that spoke to their client base in a more approachable, yet direct, fashion.
It was felt that the previous site looked ‘amateur’ to the point that its url was not even given out for fear of embarrassment, and while most of their business comes through referrals, they knew that they could not properly expand and grow the business without a better online presence. So, they turned to okellydesign to help bring them to the next step.
I immediately felt that it was important to highlight their unique approach to resume writing and their very personal involvement with each client. Rather than working with standard forms and templates, as many such services do, Resume Strategists meet with every client several times, usually for hours at a time, taking copious notes and building up a complete picture of a persons experiences and skills. They then work through many revisions and edits to ensure that every detail and aspect of the resume is exactly right, and perfectly pitched toward getting their clients the job that they are seeking.
In order to show all this, I thought it would be best to position Resume Strategists as a smaller, more boutique service, highlighting the personal service and attention to detail for which they are known. A warm and inviting color palette, based on their existing identity, sets the stage for content which broken up to clear and concise sections. Large typographic statements bring the viewers eye across to the main text, while all the while asking questions of the reader to encourage them to think about how Resume Strategists could help them to progress in their careers.
A customized icon suite and typographic style, based on detailed stripes, helps to simultaneously direct the users eye to key information, while also keeping such elements out of the way visually speaking, so that the text content is more easily read and retained.
The whole project was started and finished within 3 weeks, an extremely tight turnaround, but I think it came together pretty well in the end! The site was launched 2 weeks ago, so it’s a little early to see how it has affected the business revenue, but, given that there was no real online presence for Resume Strategists previously (and hence, no real ability to market the service properly), I think it’s safe to say that they will now go from strength to strength.
