This is a website for an independent singer / songwriter. It was created in a very short timeframe (and on a shoestring budget!) with a view towards having her selected for upcoming music festivals and pending record contracts. The look and feel plays on her Russian heritage, as well as on the style and tone of her music. It aims to position her as more serious about her music than many others in a similar position, in a contemporary and accessible manner.

A minimal layout allows her stunning photography (by Don Morris) to shine and keeps all unnecessary content (written by myself and Anastassia) out of the way until needed. It was coded (by Paul Chamberlain) as one large html page to speed load times between ‘pages’ and to ensure that the main slideshow continuously plays behind the content pages. The site serves as a hub with links to all her other presences online, as well as options for her fans to buy her music and for the press to access her press kit.

I also designed a typographic logo to reinforce her branding amongst the target audience of younger, independently-minded women… sassy with a feminine side. This identity (and typeface, called ‘Affair’) carries through the design where possible, most notably with the customised icon set for the site that I designed. Each outside link (eg facebook, twitter, myspace) has an icon created using the brand typestyle, thus tying each outer space to this primary online hub.

Following on from the site design, I designed album art for Stassia’s upcoming singles, named ‘Sorry’ and ‘Russian Roulette’ respectively. These, along with 2 other tracks, are now available on iTunes (which can be accessed through the site)... I am quite pleased to see my first music covers appear on iTunes.

I am pleased to share that the site won several awards, including the prestigious Award for Interactive Excellence in 2011 in the Communicator Awards, and also in the Graphic Design USA (publication) USA Web Design Awards for 2011.
