My Paintings

A small selection of paintings done over the years

These are examples of paintings I’ve done over the years.

1. This painting was done in March 2006. I wanted to create a contemporary motif based on the designs of William Morris, who was a noted 19th Century textile designer. I took some of his floral patterns and painted them in a vibrant pink on a bright silver base. It was painted using acrylics and measures 12” x 36” and was painted to remain unframed.

2. Here’s a detail of this painting, showing the bottom left corner.

3. This a take on Jan Vermeers ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring.’ It was painted in November 2005 using acrylics. It measures 40” x 60” as framed.

4. This is a detail from that painting showing part of the face and headscarf.

5. This is a series of silk-screen prints I did while in my 2nd year at college. They were done by posterisation, which involves transferring negatives of an image with graduating degrees of brightness onto a screen and then bringing different tones of ink through the silk to build up the image. The image I chose is of Picasso lighting a cigarette, which I felt had a reflective moodiness appropriate to the medium. All measure 12” x 16.” This edition was done using brown and gold inks.

6. This edition was done using deep navy, indigo, and blue inks.

7. This edition was done using burgundy through to yellow inks.

8. This is a painting I finished in January 2006, commemorating Liverpools famous victory over AC Milan in the European Champions League Final. It was done using acrylics and measures 60” x 40.” It was painted to be unframed and is hung as seen here.

9. Here’s a detail from this painting showing the captain, Stephen Gerrard raising up the Champions League Trophy.
