This college project was called the ‘Typographic Week’ and required us to visualise seven days solely through typography. I decided to use extracts from weather reports building into images of that type of weather, since the weather is the one thing common to every day. Each form of weather also links to the human emotion for that day to add further meaning to each piece.
1. This is Monday, a day when we often feel tired and down after the weekend.
2 & 3. This is Tuesday, where the weekend is gone and we must accept we are now well into the working week, so it’s raining.
4. This is Wednesday; the work is mounting up and also melting away as we get it done, much like snow does. Our mood is gentle and calm as we get on with the week in hand.
5 & 6. This is Thursday, the real business day, when everything gets done to clear the way for Friday. There’s ice in our veins as we work, but we cheer up in the evening as tomorrow’s Friday!
7. It’s Friday at last, payday for most people, so sunny moods abound as we gear up for the long awaited weekend.
8 & 9. This is Saturday, a day when not doing very much at all is the order of the day, so the weather is dry and still, much like the desert.
10 & 11. Having gone out on Saturday night, we are now suffering on Sunday, feeling like there’s a thunder storm in our heads. Our mood is as black as this overcast stormy sky.
