Dublin

A selection of photographs shot around Dublin for various projects

I took all of these shots primarily for the Edward Square Residential brochure. Some were not used in the end, but were used in other projects as part of the Xmi stock photography library. The brief was to show off the area around the development.

1. This is the colourful entrance to the ‘Bella Cuba’ – a Cuban restaurant opposite the U.S. embassy in Ballsbridge.

2. This is a gourmet grocers in the affluent Donnybrook village

3. The ornate railings that line Herbert Park in Donnybrook.

4. People stream across the Ha’penney Bridge, which goes across the River Liffey. This river divides the city into North and South and is crossed roughly half a million times a day. It is so called because long ago one had to pay a toll of half a penny to cross it.

5. Temple Bar, Dublin’s bohemian and cultural heartbeat, as well as being a very popular tourist destination.

6. The General Post Office on O’Connell Street, scene of the 1916 Irish Rising from which Irish independence from Britain was ultimately achieved. There are still bullet-marks on the pillars outside the building from that Easter weekend.

7. A woman examines the flowers for sale on Grafton Street.

8. This is a view of Grafton Street, Dublin’s most exclusive, and hectic, shopping area.

9. A man takes some time out during lunchtime to feed some of some of the many ducks which populate the lakes in the lush Herbert Park in Ballsbridge.

10. This image is of a beautiful Georgian Terrace in Ballsbridge.

11. A young girl plays with her water pistol beside the flowers in St. Stephens Green, a popular park at the top of Grafton Street.

12. The band pavillion by the main lake in St. Stephen’s Green.
