An evolutionary label design bringing a heritage brand up to date

Kerry Foods asked Xmi design to re-design the packaging for their flavoured sparkling water range. They required the new look to incorporate the ethos and brand values of Kerry Water, carefully distilled over 20 years of being a market leader, which are ruggedness, freedom and vitality.

I worked on this large and extensive project as part of the team at Xmi. The final design shows mountain fresh water swirling around the appropriate fruit for each label. The fruits are kept relatively small to suggest their relationship to the water in the overall mix of ingredients, but large enough that they can be easily distinguished on shop shelves. The typography, refined from the existing style, was kept very clean and minimal, both for shelf-impact purposes and also for ease of recognition (ensuring that customers accepted the re-design more readily and continued to purchase Kerry Spring water).

There were many variations on these bottle designs of course, allowing for the great variety of sizes that products such as water come in (250mm, 500mm, 1litre, 2 litres, 6 packs etc), on which I worked extensively as well.
